Fn Minimi
The U.S. military adopted the FN M249S, a semi-automatic variant of the M249 SAW light machine gun, in 1988. FN Herstal initially created it as the FN MINIMI®. The weapon shoots from a closed-bolt position and has the recognizable 18.5-inch FN cold hammer-forged chrome-lined barrel. The 5.56x45mm NATO rifle can use a connected ammo belt and magazines.
